Privacy

price-ref is built to work without knowing who you are. You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, address, email, phone number or meter number.

What you enter

To estimate prices we use your postcode, your electricity network, and your usage: a usage level, a yearly kWh figure, or the kWh and dates from a bill. These are sent to our server to calculate the results and are not stored. We don't keep a record of your searches or link them to you.

What we don't do

We don't use cookies, advertising or analytics trackers, and we don't sell or share information about your searches. We don't collect personal information from retailers, and clicking a "Visit" link doesn't send the retailer anything from your search.

Technical information

Like any website, your browser sends technical details (such as your IP address and browser type) when it loads pages. Our hosting provider, Fly.io, processes these to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and may keep them briefly in its logs. Its servers for this site are in Sydney. We don't keep our own logs of the pages or searches you make.

The site's font (Manrope) is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser also connects to Google, which receives your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.

Retailer websites

If you follow a link to a retailer, its own privacy policy applies to anything you do on its website.

Changes

If we start collecting more information (for example accounts or smart-meter uploads), we'll update this page before we do.
